Bank Accounts And Armory Of The Crimson Blades

A Running List of Significant Equipment and Fortunes of Characters Living and Dead

Magic Item and Special Equipment List/Descriptions By Character (current up to session 31)

Kellin Greyfield:
sword +1: a finely made katana named Dancing Star with command word "brightness" to cause the blade to glow as continual light spell. Command word "Darkness" dims the blade. Found session 10 when The Blades traveled 20 miles north of the keep to a village of the dead. Kellin went toe-to-toe with a once-female wight in order to win the sword. Kellin has come to calling the sword Shining Star.

Shield +1: around wooden shield with metal banding reinforcement, likely to be of barbarian origin, painted with heraldry of red lion rampant on a white background, found session 24 when clearing the Bugbear den in The Caves of Chaos

Healing Potion: Found session 24. There were 2 of these found in a treasure chest in the bugbear chieftain's room in the bugbear den in The Caves of Chaos. Tarsus took the other but used it within a few sessions. Clear liquid in a glass vial. 1 dose in glass vial for 1d6+1 hp

Magic Arrows of Unknown Power x2: Found session 8 in a quiver buried in a bone pile within an ogres den. This den had a secret entrance from the hobgoblin lair in The Caves of Chaos. The arrows have a hickory shafts, obsidian tips, and parrot fletching. There were actually six in the quiver, two went to Kazuo, and two went to Artharil.

Harvestus
Silver Crow Amulet: Found session 29 in The Tomb of King Herjolf. The amulet was worn by an elite skeletal warrior guarding the final "unresting" place of King Herjolf's Wight. Its function(s) and purpose are unknown. The keep sage was unable to figure anything out. Harvestus has not noticed any changes since wearing it. The Hauk barbarians were known for ancestor worship and their magic users are thought to have been powerful necromancers. Amulet of a silver crow's head holding a small red gem, likely a ruby, in its beak.

Flail +1: Found session 31. This weapon was used by a LV4 hobgoblin shaman that was a follower of The Black Gate religious cult. It is believed this shaman had been recently converted by an evil human priest of the same order. The battle where this weapon was won was fought 2 hours away from the keep to the east, near the tower of hob.

Tarsus
Spear +1: Found session 25, wielded by a minotaur that was slain by Tarsus, Tharal, and Kellin. Tarsus has taken it as his primary weapon and has named it "Charging Bull" both after the etching on the blade and the minotaur that once used it.

Ring of Continual Light

Kujira
Shield +1: Found session 21. This is a wooden shield with charging boar emblazoned. Found in a treasure trove in the orc den in The Caves of Chaos. The clan chieftain and a number of his best warriors were defeated for this prize. Kujira "bearded" the hell out of the chieftain before killing him with his mace.

Jeroth!Bah
Ring of Protection +1: Found on a mad-man during session 11 after The Crimson Blades killed him. It is a rune marked copper ring. This madman may have formerly been the butler of Podikar The Elementalist who's tower is hidden in The Caves of Mystery.

Spear +1/+1AC: Yakutz The Bloody. Found Session 15. Found in a library in the lower area of Podikar's tower in The Caves of Mystery. The library was protected by a fire elemental that the group never defeated. Yakutz seems to posses some sort of intelligence or ego. It becomes "jealous" if the owner uses other weapons and creates attack throw penalties.

Gildenbough
Elvish plate +1: Found session 25. A finely crafted suit of Elvish origin found in the dungeon of the minotaur (this armor only fits a person of elvish build). Generously given to Gildenbough by the rest of the Crimson Blades, even though Gildenbough was indisposed for that foray. Armor was acquired session 25. Kellin, Tarsus, and the hireling Tharal did battle with a minotaur in its subterranean labyrinth in the caves of chaos. The armor was found in a hidden treasure cache in a strange room at the center of the labyrinth that was filled with the bones of hundreds of the minotaurs victims.

Neh-Rujj, sword +2: a dearly bought blade, pulled from a wight's finally dead hands as it ended its long defense of an ancient tribal barrow. A finely wrought dark blade, with rubies studding the pommel and hand guard. It is a weapon that will be treasured by Gildenbough and his descendants. The battle took place in the presumed tomb of King Herjolf, a long dead king of the Hauk Barbarian tribe, and it was his wight that was slain. Sword acquired session 29.

Artharil
hand axe of unknown power: after doing battle with a seemingly random "herd" of skeletons and zombies in the forest to the east of the Keep, Artharil saw something shiny on the ground in the distance. A recent rain must have washed the metal object clean allowing it to luster in the light of day once more. Artharil raced against time to dig up the metal object. More undead were known to be wandering nearby in the woods. He could hear a few in the distance but managed to pull the object out of the shallow grave he was digging into and ran back to the party to return to the keep. It is a well made steel axe without any sign of rust despite having been buried in the mud unprotected for who knows how long. The keep sage was unable to identify it. Found session 28.

There were actually six in the quiver, two went to Kellin, and two went to Kazuo.

Cord

Kazuo The Human Thief (deceased): body is thought to be outside Podikar's Tower in The Caves of Mystery. No attempt has been made to find the body.
See Hall of Shame entry for details of his death.

Dagger +1: Found during session 11. Kazuo found a small chest buried in the floor of the oak tree dugout a mad-man was using as his home.
It has a curved blade. This madman may have formerly been the butler of Podikar The Elementalist who's tower is hidden in The Caves of Mystery. The Crimson Blades killed the mad-man during a fight after his pet puma ambushed the party.

Potions: Potion of Healing in an orange gourd flask, and an unidentified green potion in a gourd flask. It was highly suspected that the green potion was a powerful poison, this was never tested. These potions were recovered from the lizardman den that The Crimson Blades cleared during session 7.

Potion of Invisibility?: This potion is listed in the treasure list at the bottom of the session 11 summary. There is no specific mention of it in the write up, and no mention of it thereafter. It is likely that it was on Kazuo when he died the very next session.

There were actually six in the quiver, two went to Kellin, and two went to Artharil.

Used Up, Broken, and Consumed Magical Items

Green Potion (used well): Found session 8, this potion had never been identified but was suspected to be poison. Found session 8 in an bone pile in an ogres den in the caves of chaos. This potion was used by Kujira session 17 to poison a lot of food. A captured hob-woman was ordered by the group to feed it to the remaining warriors of her tribe. She did so and many of them died in short order. So yeah, it was poison. The Crimson Blades cleaned up the rest.

Bearded Two-Handed Axe +1: Found session 24. Found in the chieftan's room in the bugbear cave of The Caves of Chaos. Sold for a sizable sum to the local banker. Proceeds were split between Tarsus and Kellin.

Peculilar Magic Amulets x13: Found session 26. They were worn around the foreheads diadem style by 13 skeletal warriors that all seem to be under he effect of a haste spell. These were assumed to be evil and/or cursed by the wiser members of The Crimson Blades. As a precaution they were brought to Jopharr Priest of Heironn back at The Keep on The Borderlands who confirmed they were evil. At his request we left them with him so they could be disposed of in an appropriate manner. Found in an underground structure within the northern end of the horse-shoe valley that holds The Caves of Chaos.

Healing Potions of Various Sorts: A small number, maybe 5 or 6 of these have been found and used or lost that have not been documented elsewhere.

Divine Scroll of Bless: Acquired before setting out session 32. Used session 32. Harvestus, the human cleric of Bosis The Lady of The Wheat, consulted with the local high priestess about how to completely destroy an alter of evil. She gave instructions and granted him the use of a Bless scroll. The dark alter of the black gate religion within The Tower of Hob 2 hours east of The Keep of The Borderlands was thus destroyed.
